About us

The Literature Affirmation Center (CAL) is a university unit at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. It was opened on December 1, 2023. The Center is an interdisciplinary research unit that focuses on: 

1) creative writing,
2) creative writing education,
3) literature as one of the key factors in cultural diplomacy,
4) rules and conditions of literary art.

The center was created as a space where literature – in all its languages, forms, and contexts – can be affirmed, studied and practiced.

CAL organizes meetings with writers, workshops, conferences, and residency programs, bringing together academic and artistic communities. We co-develop international projects such as the Erasmus+ BIP (Blended Intensive Programmes) and collaborate with literary institutions in Poland and abroad, including the University of Iowa, Fulbright Poland, the Polish Institute in New Delhi. 

We believe literature is not only an object of analysis but first and foremost it is a form of dialogue about the world. This is why we work at the intersection of theory and practice, criticism and creativity, scholarship and social engagement.

CAL creates a welcoming environment – for writers, translators, researchers, students, and all those who shape literary culture here and now.
